Marcy Newman, founder
Marcy Newman, founder of the firm, is a leading advocate for domestic relations in Chicago and across Illinois. She earned an admirable reputation for her success advising clients as they navigate life-changing events and legal matters crucial to their futures. As a trained mediator, she has served in numerous cases as a Guardian Ad Litem on behalf of minor children. Representing men and women in both traditional and same-sex relationships, her expertise and compassion guide spouses, life partners and families through the process.
Ms. Newman has won cases before the Illinois Appellate Court and the Illinois Supreme Court.
Every year since 2006, Ms. Newman has been named an “Illinois Super Lawyer”— an honor bestowed on only five percent of the lawyers in the state. In 2013 and 2014, Chicago Magazine recognized her as one of the Top 50 Women Attorneys in the State of Illinois, and she has been named a “Leading Lawyer.”
Since 1996, Ms. Newman has been a Fellow of the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), a group of only 120 attorneys. She currently serves as the elected Secretary of the Illinois chapter and has served on the Board of Directors of its national association. And she is a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association.
“I enjoy the practice of family law because it’s challenging and incorporates many areas of law, such as real estate, business valuation, accounting principles and taxation,” she explains. “But more than that, I care about my clients. I want to make sure that once this process is over, they are able to create an environment that allows them to make the best decisions for their future and their family’s future.”
