Andrea Lum, principal attorney, has contributed to the growth of the firm since 2009. She excels at in-depth financial analysis, from the calculation of child support and maintenance to the more complex details of property and business valuation. She closely works with clients to analyze financial documents and discover marital and non-marital assets, then uses such data to design her litigation strategy and settlement agreements.

Ms. Lum successfully has defended clients against appeals and is well practiced in applying her knowledge of domestic relations law to her cases. She volunteers as a Child Representative, providing pro bono protection for children in high-conflict family law cases, through Chicago Volunteer Law Services.

Ms. Lum has been named three times as a “Rising Star” by Illinois Super Lawyers, an honor given to no more than 2.5 percent of young attorneys.

She developed her passion for domestic relations while attending Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she worked in the Family Law Clinic. During that time, Ms. Lum also completed a judicial externship with (Ret.) Judge Leida J. Gonzalez-Santiago, where she observed domestic relations proceedings and gained first-hand experience in litigation.

After graduation, Ms. Lum enrolled in the Family Law Master of Laws (LL.M.) program at Chicago-Kent, where she studied with leading family law attorneys and completed another externship at a firm specializing in financial evaluations for domestic relations cases.

Ms. Lum earned her Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law and was admitted to the Illinois State Bar in 2008. She also belongs to the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois Bar Association, and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.

Prior to law school, she studied Political Science and Spanish at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, earning a bachelor’s degree in 2004. As an undergraduate, she spent a semester in Madrid, Spain, where she immersed herself in the culture and became a proficient speaker of Spanish.

“I provide our clients with the tools and resources to actively participate in their divorce or parenting matter so they know how to manage and control their finances after their case ends,” she explains.
